Jonathan Barr

Jonathan W. Barr is a Senior Associate with Lytle Soulé & Felty. He is a litigation attorney who practices both civil and criminal law. Mr. Barr’s civil practice is focused on general and complex litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, negligence claims, consumer law, professional liability, insurance defense, contract disputes, and licensure matters before professional licensure boards (i.e. Oklahoma Board of Nursing, Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, and Oklahoma Board of Medicine, etc.). His criminal practice is focused on representing criminal defendants in state and municipal court.

Mr. Barr’s prior experience includes representing Oklahoma hospitals and doctors, in civil and administrative matters. He has represented clients in complex civil litigation, specifically medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, hospital negligence, premise liability, and professional liability. Mr. Barr has also represented police officers and labor unions throughout Oklahoma in use-of-force investigations, internal investigations, and labor disputes (including negotiating Collective Bargaining Agreements).  Mr. Barr has successfully represented targets of criminal investigations conducted by local police departments, The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) resulting in criminal clearances for his clients or resolution of charges through plea negotiations.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Secured directed verdict and defense verdict for physician client involved in multi-million-dollar medical malpractice litigation.
• Arbitrated collective bargaining agreement resulting in arbitrator’s ruling clarifying disputed language in favor of the client.  
• Negotiated deferred prosecution agreement on behalf of client facing multiple felony charges.
• Obtained judicial dismissal of a manufacturer named in a products liability case upon filing a motion to dismiss.
